A look up the tower

Here is a look up the tower in the back yard. It is a little hard to see, but hanging from the tower are, full size loops for 80 and 40 meters, a 160 meter "Inverted L" fed thru a 500pf motorized capacitor and my old Hy-Gain TH3MKII tribander that I have had since 1965. The tower is a grounded Rohn FK2558 foldover using a 4 point guy attachment system. When time permits, we will be shunt feeding this tower for 160 meter operation. Rotation is handled by a Hy-Gain HamIV rotor. All coax feed lines along with rotor cables and control cables are run underground thru PVC pipe into the shack. This system has withstood wind in excess of 70 MPH and survived the devastating ice storm of 1991. During this storm, ice build up as measured on the vertical wire of the "Inverted L" measured 2 1/4 inches thick.
