Amateur Radio
Station
WB2RCB
It all started back in 1965 with a Knight-Kit T-60 and a National NC-155
Here is the operating position back in early 1965. National
NC-155 receiver, NTS-3 speaker and a Knight-Kit T-60 transmitter. Antenna's were dipoles
for 80 and 40 meters up 20 feet. With only 30+ watts out, I was able to achieve my WAS #
18,777 and get a good start on my WAC. Shown in this picture, is the QSL card of my very
first cw contact as a Novice. That glory goes to WN1DJI Scott
W. Brim of Lakeville, Connecticut |
MY STATION EARLY IN 1967

| This operating position included from left: CDE TR-44 beam
antenna rotator controller, National NC-155 receiver, National NTS-3 speaker,
Hallicrafters HT-46 SSB transmitter, Ameco PCL-P preamp, Knight-Kit P-2 SWR meter and a
Electro-Voice EV-727 microphone. I also added the HA-16 external VOX unit to the HT-46.
Antenna's were dipoles for 40 and 80 meters and a Hy-Gain TH3MKII tribander at 30 feet. |
MY
STATION IN LATE 1967

| As I earned more money, I was able to upgrade the station
little by little. The National NC-155 was retired and replaced by a Hallicrafters SX-146
double conversion receiver. By interconnecting both the transmitter and receiver, we could
now operate in transceive mode. From left: CDE TR-44 rotator controller, Hallicrafters
SX-146 receiver, Ameco PCL-P preamp, Hallicrafters R-51 speaker/clock, Hallicrafters HT-46
transmitter and a Knight-Kit P-2 SWR meter. An Electro-Voice EV-727 microphone is pictured
but hard to see. |
